Sober Nightlife in New York City
For an evening without a ticket, No More Cafe in the East Village serves coffee, tea and zero-proof cocktails until midnight. Bigvision’s Midtown calendar is a good place to find an open mic. For a dance party, check the event announcement first. Bright Nights Social works with different venues around the city.
Before you go
For a night that can run late, save the East Village cafe address. For an open mic, save the actual date as well as the Midtown address. Pop-up locations can change from one event to the next.

No More Cafe
Walk in at 352 E. 13th Street for a loose-leaf tea or a zero-proof cocktail after dinner. The cafe lists a midnight close every day. It also posts live music dates on its Happenings page, so you can choose between an ordinary cafe night and a show.
If you plan to start earlier, check the hours first. The cafe has announced that, beginning December 1, weekday public access starts at 5 p.m. Weekends still start at noon.

Bigvision Community
On the Wagon gives comics, musicians and poets a place to try new material at 309 E. 49th Street. Look for a Tuesday listing at 7:30 p.m. on Bigvision’s calendar and open the date you want before making the trip. The calendar includes readings and other arts programs, too. Bigvision welcomes nonmembers. Open the individual event page for registration details.

Bright Nights Social
Bright Nights Social, formerly Third Place Bar, produces dance parties and live music with different hosts. Follow the organizer’s calendar for the venue and entry details of each event. If there’s no date listed, save it for a future night and choose a cafe or a scheduled show for this one.
